Oh look, another ignorant thread (I'm really not surprised, it's The Tech Game afterall)

I've said it once, and I'll say it again:


It doesn't matter how many posts a person has whether they've surpassed 5,000 or whether they're below 100 - the amount of posts, and the amount of reputation a person has shouldn't define them as a contributing member to the community. There are staff members with below 100 posts, that on a regular basis? Contribute more to the community than I, as well as many other posters would ever contribute during their entire duration of activity on this site. Just because a person doesn't post a lot, and just because a person chooses to give themselves more anonymity on this site than others tend to do (hardly posting, utilizing messages to reduce spam count to aid in helping remove topics by reporting them for staff; and messaging members of the community to help them) doesn't mean they shouldn't be trusted more or less than anyone else on this site. Reputation has literally no advantages, and after 25 reputation power? It's deemed useless to non-gold members anyways, and as for a person having an avatar? That makes you trust them? What difference does it make?




There are plenty of people on The Tech Game with more reputation than I, but for an example:

• I have 174 reputation: 121 from posting, 53 earned from others now.
  
• Sometimes I actually have an avatar, other times? I could careless.
  
• Two year member - 3,000 posts. (Quite low for how long I've been on)
  
• 1396 useful posts, 287 unuseful posts (Quite good ratio, by the way)

My stats? AVERAGE in-comparison to others on here, and you think just because someone has an avatar and a high post count and reputation that they're deemed trustworthy? Not to incriminate myself, but just because a person has a lot of rep and posts? Doesn't mean I wouldn't scam you, lie to you, or abuse my so called "trust" that you've given me without earning. The same goes for everyone on this site, no matter who they are. I remember a good friend of Sean's, even I trusted him. Ended up being a liar, and total douche that betrayed a lot of people. Just because he had the ability to. The same way anyone else can, just because they can and will do it.




Pro-tip:

Realize that no matter how many posts a person has, it doesn't reflect who they are as a person and their post count and reputation doesn't define whether or not they're reliable, trustworthy, or someone who won't scam you. This is the internet after all, and when people are desperate for things? They'll say, or do, anything they can to get what they want even if they have a great reputation.

Yes. I'm really going to hack everyone and then scam you.

The new members that don't have an avatar can be waiting for it to be approved by a moderator.
The Others... well.... maybe they don't care about the site enough to give it 2 minutes of their time to get an avatar.

I actually recently got rid of my avatar, I don't see why it matters whether or not a user has an avatar, it truly doesn't affect you in any way.
I've made many shops and have one going on currently, by not having an avatar it doesn't make me a scammer?

I agree and disagree.

What if they have gold and have no avatar? Or what if they got their privileges taken away?

I think it's if they have like 100 posts or less that have no avatar.

I'm not a fake or anything, I just haven't had the time to make myself an avatar you know? But I agree, people with no avatar might be less trusted and just a troll.
