There is only one problem which has occurred to me during playing Call of Duty 4 on a Windows 8 PC. It consistently crashes (iw3mp.exe has stopped working).

Now, I have looked at a few work arounds, and that was to enable stereo mix on the microphone, this has all been tried without any success. If you know any other way, or believe I am doing something wrong, please help me out!
It worked on my old laptop, but that was Windows 7, but now i'm on a preinstalled Windows 8 Desktop PC (HP Pavilion, model: p6-2388ea)

-------

--- EDIT!
Still having problems... the following I have tried & was unsuccessful are:

- Plugging in headphones (into the headphone 3.5mm jack, and the microphone 3.5mm jack)
- Removing all speakers / headphones / microphones
- Enabling / Disabling Stereo Mix
- Running in different compatibility modes (WinXP, Win Vista, Win 7)
- Running as an administrator
- Reinstalling my sound driver

I only have about 3 minutes to 15 minutes game time before crashing.

None of these have successfully worked. I would downgrade to Windows 7, as I just got this PC it's preinstalled with Windows 8 and errors can occur when downgrading to Windows 7.

Also I tried partitioning my hard drive so I could dual boot, tried to boot up with my USB to install Windows 7, got to the boot menu, but you can't boot with a USB. Even if you do a advanced restart, still doesn't work.

Cheers! ;)

Any idea on how to partition my hard drive? Seeming it's 2TB and if I can partition it into 2 drives (1TB & 1TB), then it would make my life a lot more easier.

I don't usually partition my drive, but if there is a way to do it without having to format the drive, then please let me know!

some say you may have to do a clean install or just ditch 8 for 7 or partition the hard drive for 8 and 7 (if you dont know how to google is your friend!)

As I just stated in my editted original post, I have tried to partition without success. Windows 8 preinstalled PCs work with UEFI (this is what Apple uses) instead of BIOS. As Windows 7 works with BIOS, there happens to be some errors with the Operating System.

EDIT
I have actually partitioned the drive into 2 drives, C:\ and X:\, they both consist of 1TB of space. I had no chance in being able to install Windows 7 onto the X:\ drive, as Windows 8 isn't really that good when it comes to booting up on an external media drive.

just go into the adv boot menu by pushing f8 or f12 when you first start up your pc and select your windows 7 disc and then when it says upgrade or advanced select advanced then select the X:\ partition
