First off you have to remember that the mayans knew nothing of most of the world ,so the end of the world as they knew it may of meant an end of the tiny patch of land that they existed on.
If your some sort of religious nut then maybe you have more reason to believe that the end of the world is coming and soon..,After all over the last five year there have been many end of world type biblical events .
The way i see it .. Every day is the end of the world as we know it ..,It's called change!.

They never said that the world would end, it is just that their calendar ended on the 21st. When our calendars end, we don't scream OMG WE ARE GONNA DIEEEE!!!!!11!!!1 do we now?
