The title says it all, what's the point of getting gold on here? And I see that people get "gifted" gold, what does that mean? And how does one get gifted gold? Any response would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

The point of getting gold is to donate to the website.

Gold just gives you more features then normal users on the forum. You get a Colored Username, a signature area, a private "Gold" section, and a lot more.
Gifted Gold means that a gold member spends $5.97 to gift someone else and let them have Gold abilities too.
To get gifted, you need to contribute to the site by helping others out. Once someone feels you deserve it, they will grant you with the gift of gold.

Now does that person get gold forever?

The person who was gifted will only have a limited time with gold which is 1 month.

Maybe I'm just greedy, but that seems kind of pointless to me because you barely know the person that you're basically giving $6 to. I mean, it's not that much money but still, it seems useless. They should have an unlimited gold subscription for like $30

Well a complete answer from all people above me is:
When buying gold you will support thetechgame with the some sort of donation your doing. With gold you get extra features who non-gold members dont have. To get gold gifted you will need to be an active and great member to the community of TTG.

Gold users aren't going to give it to someone who just joined the site. You have to take some part in the community and help out. If you think there should be a "Infinite Gold Subscription", take that suggestion to the staff members.

Where would I do that?
