So i really cant restore my iphone..
its currently on 5.1.1 fw. i just want to restore it so that the jailbreak is taken off it.
i put it into DFU mode, still wont work. i keep getting the error codes 1601, 1602, 1600.
when i am restoring, i restore it back to the OFW 5.1.1. do i need to go to a lower fw to restore it? or what. please help :-)

Firstly you will want to restore to latest firmware for your device, you will be able to tell if your firmware is up to date on the restore/update page of your device in iTunes. If it is not up to date you will need to click restore and update in DFU mode - if you can't do this then you will need to manualy download the ipsw and locate it to your device when restore by clicking shift and restore at the same time in DFU.

Those error codes are generally 1 of 3 problems. One being a faulty USB cable or connection, so trying another USB port or cable. Go here for more info: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Another problem being trying to restore to a custom ipsw and iTunes detecting it. If it is trying to do this hold the shift button and click restore at the same time to locate a manually downloaded (which you will need to do before hand) manufacture ipsw (make sure you download the latest for your device). If you really do want to restore tona custom firmware then iReb (google it) maybe your solution.

Lastly you may have put the device incorrectly into DFU mode. To get it out of it just hold the power and home button for ten seconds until it flashes and comes back on. Then try putting it into DFU mode again and trying restoring

By what you are saying I think you have the second problem, and iTunes is trying to restore to a previously used custom firmware instead of stock. Just search on the Internet the latest firmware for your iPhone and you should be able to download it from apples website. Then make sure you know where it is on your computer, then in iTunes hold shift when you press restore to link it to it.

Good luck
