best thing to do is watch loads of diffrent tuts on youtube as some tuts leave out things that would be included in other tuts, and basically revise all the steps, then when it comes to doing it you know exactly what you got to to and you can have a video tut on while your doing it just for guidance
if you want you can add me on skype or aim, and il awnser spesific questions you need to know, its too much to just write everything there is about jtagging all in 1.

but here's a quick walkthrough tut i writ on what you need to do:
0. set up jtag tool/Jrunner for the way you will be using it
(smc points, Freeboot version etc...)
1. install jtag conections
2. install nand-x connections
3. connect AV and Power supply to xbox (stand by), but do not turn On xbox
4. hook up nand-x to computer
5. read nand x2
6. compare nands, if all goes well then carry on
7. write Xell
8. disconect nand-x from computer
9. turn On xbox by DVD button
10. take a photo of the cpu key
11. turn off xbox by the normal power button
12. write the cpu key on your computer (in note pad)
13. extract Kv from original nand
14. put nand-x back into computer
15. create FB image
16. write freeboot Image
17. once it has finneshed writing unplug nand-x from computer
18. turn on xbox/jtag normaly, check if its all working
19. turn off xbox/jtag, unplugg AV and Power supply
20. de solder nand-x kit, But LEVE the Jtag conection alone

Before you even buy the stuff to jtag, you need to know 2 things.
1. It's cheaper to have someone else jtag it for you unless you plan on jtagging more than one console.
2. Your dashboard has to be lower than 7371.
