I was taking a part an extra computer I had, and took 1GB of memory from it and put it in my current computer, will I see a performance difference? If so in what areas? Also, my old computer won't turn on, but the power supply button in the back is flashing green, it's a compaq pc, what's wrong?

Thanks guys!

The motherboard may self adjust to the slower speed of the stick of RAM you put in there, as for the PSU have you tried unplugging it and draining its power whilst it's unplugged? You probably need a new PSU, it happens.

Green means good usually so I doubt that is the issue. Go to crucial.com and search for your computers model. It will tell you what type of RAM it takes. Your computer only takes certain RAM. You'll probably want to upgrade to at least 4GB maybe 8GB if possible.

Yes, if you are using older memory modules in a modern PC. You would have to list the type and speed the memory is designed to run at.
