I don't think that I love the south!! but you got tv shows like swamp people, honey boo boo child, turtle man slamming your name in dirt making you guys seem like filthy dumb uneducated people from the south which certainly isn't true...

People are just insecure about themselves. My aunt lives in south Virginia (she was born there) has a strong accent but I don't think she's a dumb hillbilly or anything. Granted she may have a different life style than I'm used to but she isn't stupid. Don't let it get to you almost every time I go on xbox I always run into some smartass kid calling me a communist and a whole bunch of other crap(I'm Russian and sometimes speak Russian with my friends)

I live in Louisiana. I'm not the brightest of person, but I'm far from the "stupid southern" stereotype. I have seen VERY smart people around where I live. Rednecks can actually be very creative. They come up with crazy, off the wall things, but they work. We take things slower usually, but that is far from being stupid. Stereotyping individuals really gets you nowhere.

Yea there are some people who fit the criteria perfectly but just about every southern is not some dumb hick.
