I'd probably upgrade to a 660 ti or 7870 and drop the ssd. But hey depends on if he wants higher fps or faster read/write speeds.

Yea he could do that, i dropped the SSD and dropped to 500GB HDD and he still is under budget $779.92

This is very untrue... Building your own is generally more expensive, I do agree though alienware is quite a ripoff. But you will usually find much better deals on pre-built pc's as the companies who build them stock pile supplies and get it much cheaper. For example go on dell and pick a xps desktop, then go and build the same pc with the same specs it will cost more to build it. Trust me. So you are usually better off buying a decent pre build and upgrade the gpu. It will save you in the long run.
Prebuilt computers are built to profit the company. Why would they build a computer for less than it's actual value. When you make it yourself, all you profit is the equipment owners.
