Adam and Eve were spirits until the fall and so was the Garden of Eden.

The snake was a spiritual form that Satan manifested, not a physical one.
Also, demons are said to communicate telepathically, they're voices in your head.

Its a fictional bible story. You can take bible stories as if it actually happened but most catholics believe they teach you a lesson instead of actually being real (most stories). Once you pass grade 10 religion,you'll know what I'm talking about. Its called an Exegesis (explaining a bible story in depth).
