My birthday is Sunday and I was thinking about getting a new headset (astros obviously) So what I'm really asking is what is the difference between the A50's and A40's. Right now I have Tritton 720's and have been thinking about Astros since I bought the Trittons. I looked at the specs on the Astro website and I don't really understand the differences. Any reply would be great, thanks for your time.

A50's have way better quality than the a40's, but if you have a tendency to "Rage" alot and throw things, like your headset and controller, you're going to find that it's not as durable a headset you want. I would go with the A50's, but the A40's are a more durable choice.

I've actually owned the A50s, and didn't like them. I had a pair of A40s first, got the A50s, then went to the 2012 A40s. It's honestly the mixamp that makes the difference. The 2012 A40s and A50s are basically the same besides different looks, durability, and padding. If the new mixamp comes with the 2012s, I would suggest those. I know it sounds stupid, but that's what I did, and I'm much more comfortable with the A40s. But, whatever you get, Astros are the highest quality headset you can get.
