Its kind of like a tv. Even though you unplug it theres is still electricity flowing until it runs out. Hence the static on the screen afterwards. Your brain and body are the same way. Leaving just enough power to dream until it subsides..

Also this could bring up the topic of heaven, if we die we could enter REM state and dream of heaven and all that good stuff while the 7 seconds are happening, but as you said we have no perception of time, so you could actually see heaven.


Another thing is while in REM state you could do basically anything you want, your imagination could do what you desire. In theory you could possibly break the fourth wall. You could control anything you want to do. Really nice topic
