So.. I got my xbox 360 in 2009, particularly when MW2 came out, so you can almost say 2010. I have the white original arcade xbox with a hard drive on it. Recently it has been acting up lately, like I got red rings the other day and lost some DLC.. which was unfortunate.. but that's not the point. I was wondering if it was worth it for me to upgrade to the new xbox for my birthday.. or keep my xbox for now, (by the way, I believe the red ring was caused by a hard drive issue, but I'm not sure.) But when it happened or whenever I even touched my hard drive the xbox would turn off, then go to an ERROR 38 screen.. I need to know if it's my hard drive or my xbox, and if it's my xbox is it worth buying a new one?

Try to fix the problem first, because Xbox 720 will be out soon, if not buy a new one.

I have a hard drive if you're interested. It seems that your harddrive is the problem although I'd still upgrade to the new slim. They aren't expensive at all and you should be able to pick on up really cheap

For some of the Xbox's that had the Red Ring problem, they put an extra 3 years of warranty on the console. Call Microsoft and see if they can do anything about it.
