Well you can really never be 100% positive over stuff that is'nt confirmed. The reason i think its true is beacuse if you see those are the same orange beams you get after you complete the maxis side of the easter egg in Tower of Babble.

It might have a link to it like helping restore the human race like Richtofen says in the Tower of Babble in Tranzit but I don't think the REAL actual EE will happen until the end map pack just like how moon was. Maybe we control the original characters and stop Richtofen from gaining control of the zombies or even stop him from killing Maxis and stop Samantha from dying and taking control of the zombies or we kill Richtofen. Gonna have to wait and see

Oh yeah.. it is a meteor I believe, because at some point in the trailer somebody pointed out on the wikia you can see meteors, believe you caught a glimpse of a meteor.

I really wouldn't consider this proof, meteor or lightbeam, I am sure almost everything that will be happening on post-apocalyptic earth will have something to do with what Maxis or Richtofen are trying to do. Especially since they are like mad scientists that are talking to people via voices in there head...
