i have a 2g ipod and i plugged in my ipod to pc, i installed it and it works with i tunes. But today the cable broke and i bought a new one. when i plug it in my pc, it charges but it doesnt detect it does not make a sound when i plug it in , i viewd the devices and its not there. everything i tried was rebooting my ipod, restarting my computer, unplugging and plugging back in, full charging it, and nothing happens. can some please help me. I will give you all of my rep for 2 days

have u synced it and then double clicked on the top tight hand corner on itunes?

This happened with my iPod Touch 4G, i don't remember why but i had to reinstall windows for some reason, and after that iTunes detected it again.

You need to get the itunes helper to open you must have closed it some how if that is closed itunes can't detect you idevice
