Ever wondered how to use all the features of posting ? In this post I will show you how.
This is what you will be looking at when you're either, posting a new thread or replying to one.
I will go through, bit by bit, all the features of posting !
Subject
When making a new thread, you must include a topic subject. This is used as a title for your thread. You do not necessarily need to enter a subject when replying, but it can still be done.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Simply enter a subject that is relevant to your thread. In other words, instead of "help please", you would be better of putting "I need help opening up my xbox" !
Remember ~ 15 characters or more for your subject !
Message Body
"Message body" consists of "font type", "font size" and "font color."
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
All three features are fairly easy to use, this is how-
Font type - You can either highlight the selected text that you wish to edit and click on the drop down menu and pick the font that you would like to use.
Or, you can use the code -
Font size - You can either highlight the selected text that you wish to edit and click on the drop down menu and pick the size that you would like to use.
Or, you can use the code -
Font color - You can either highlight the selected text that you wish to edit and click on the drop down menu and pick the color that you would like to use.
Or, again, you can use the code -
Lets break this part down

We shall start here.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Justify Text
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Justified text is text in which all the printed lines in a paragraph (except the final line) are made the same length by the adjustment of spacing between words.
This can be used by either, clicking on the "justify text" icon twice and entering your text between the tags or simply using the code -
Set text align to right
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
This is used to align the text along the right margin.
You simply double click on "Set text align to right" and enter your text between the code as such -
Set text align to center
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
This is used to center text in your post, just the same as this thread.
To use, you simply double click on "Set text align to center" and enter your text between the code as such -
Set text align to left
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Left alignment is when the text is aligned along the left margin.
In English, this is the default for the way text is displayed/read.
To use, You simply double click on "Set text align to left" and enter your text between the code as such -
Superscript and Subscript
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Lets break down these somewhat useful features.
Superscript
Superscript is the "x" with the small "2" above it.
In the most newb friendly way - This is used to to put smaller text/numbers above the the rest of the text that is not "superscripted".
An example, seeing as it's hard to describe - "ImSasukeTM"
Do you see what it does ? It's a very handy feature, not commonly used on the forums, but very handy knowing it's purpose.
To use -
Subscript
Subscript is the "x" with the "2" below it.
Subscript is used in the same way as "Superscript".
It has a different use though.
Instead of the the selected Subscript text being above the normal text, it is below it, as such - ImSasukeTM
To use - To use -
Bold, Italic, Underline and Strike text
Lets break this down.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Bold
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Bold is used for emphasis to make certain words and phrases stand out from surrounding text.
To use bold, you can either Click the "B" button twice and enter the text between the tags, Highlight the text and click on the "B" or use the code -
Italic
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
A style of text with the letters slanting to the right.
Italics are used for emphasis or contrast that is, to draw attention to some particular part of a text.
To use - Double click on the "I" and enter your text between the tabs, highlight the text you wish to italicize and click on the "I" or use the code -
Underline
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Underlining will produce a horizontal line immediately below the selected text.
It is used to emphasis text, and sometimes used to indicate that a letter has a different pronunciation.
To use - Double click on the "U" and enter your text between the tabs, highlight the text you wish to italicize and click on the "U" or use the code -
Strike text
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Fade Text and Insert Gradient text
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Fade Text
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I can't show any examples as I use Google Chrome.
To use - Simply double click the "fade text" icon and insert your text inside the tags, or you can either highlight your text and click on the icon or use the code -
Insert Gradient Text
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Same as "fade text", I can't test this and show an example.
To my knowledge, using this will make your text several different colors.
To use - Highlight your text, and click the "Insert gradient text" icon, a menu should now appear on the screen -
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Now you can select the colors you wish to use and you shall see the results as such -

Make Message box align from left to right and right to left
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Right to left
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
To my knowledge, this is not used for anything, apart from making the text in the message box align from right to left. It does not effect the outcome of your post. It is there for people that would rather type from right to left.
To use this, just press the icon.
Remember that this will not effect the outcome of the way it looks when posted. You must you the "Align" feature to implement "right to left" on the post.
So basically this is just for users who would rather type right to left.
Left to right

This is used the same way as "right to left", but obviously the opposite.
If you are wondering what this does, look above.

Code, Quote and Spoilers
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Three very useful features that are used a lot. Let me break them down for you.
Code
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Code is mostly used to show the code for something that will be implemented on the post if not used with code.
You may have noticed that i have used "code" to show how to use the code for all of the posting features.
To use - You can either, click twice on the icon and insert your text between the tags, highlight your text and click on the icon or use the code -
Quote
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

you can either click on the "Insert Image" icon and insert the direct link in there, or you can use the code -

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
I'm pretty sure Google videos is just youtube now, but the feature is there...
These features are to embed the respected videos onto your post.
They all work the same way, you embed the video and it can be played on the post.
To do so, you can paste a link from either sites and paste the link into the appropriate icon. and boom, you have an embedded video.

Ordered List, Insert Line Break and Remove BBcode

Ordered List
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
This used to make a list ! would you have guessed ?
This is used to create an ordered list, here is how you do so.
First, click on the icon once, enter your text which you wish to be included in the list and click on the icon again.
To make the list, you will need to do this at least twice.
To add a bullet points to the list, enter [*] between the first tag and your text.
Like so - [code]
Note- you do not need to close the [*] tag.
Line break
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
the "Insert line break" feature is pretty helpful, i have used it throughout this thread, if you have noticed the horizontal lines across the post, then you know what a link break is.
It is pretty helpful to separate text/content in your post.
To use it, you can either click the icon, or simply type the code -
[code]
[/code]
Note- You do not need to close the "hr" tag.
Emoticons
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
There are used to emphasis an emotion, for the most part anyway...
To use these, all you have to do is click on what ever one you wish, and the code for that emoticon will be displayed on the message box, then being embedded as the actually smiley on your post.
(I will update this part tomorrow with a list of emoticon codes) <- 20/5/11
You can also click "View more Emoticons" for a list of more smiley's.
Spell Check
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
This is spell check, when you have finished typing out a post, why don't you hit it to see if you have any spelling errors ?
I cannot emphasis this enough - Use it please
Extra's
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Two options here.
Attach Signature and Notify me when a reply is posted.
Basically, if you're a gold member and wish for your signature to be displayed every time you post, keep the box checked, if not; don't. (if this is leaking gold content, please inform me and i will remove).
If you want your email to receive notifications of when a reply is posted on one of your threads or a thread you have posted on, keep that box checked, if not; don't.
Adding a poll
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
You can add a poll to your thread, if you are asking a question, you can add a poll for members to vote on. It's a better option than going through every post and counted what members voted.
To add a poll, you simply add in the poll question; be as specific as you can, you want members to know what they are voting on.
Add your first poll option, basically a choice; just type in the choice and hit "add option", to add another; do the same.
You must have at least two choices for members to vote.
You can also add a time limit on how long the poll is to stay on your thread, just enter the desired number.
Note that the poll is in days. If you wish it to be a never ending pole; leave it at 0.
Preview and Submit
These are the last two option you will use on a post.
If you want to view your thread/post before you submit it for other members to view; hit "submit" and it will give you a preview of what your post will look like when posted.
When you are happy with what you have, Hit submit.
Well, that is me finished updating this today <- 20/5/11 Will continue to update in the future.
This is what you will be looking at when you're either, posting a new thread or replying to one.
I will go through, bit by bit, all the features of posting !

the "Insert line break" feature is pretty helpful, i have used it throughout this thread, if you have noticed the horizontal lines across the post, then you know what a link break is.
Updates to come -
- Update with codes for all smiley's
- Update with examples for all features!!!
Note to staff- If you preferred my thread before this, i have it saved in a .txt document, so i can easily change back.
