Someone else had this issue, the advice I remember them getting was to not save and to turn off all saving. They did and said it worked, so try that until after you finish the quest.

you can also try installing the disc to your HDD, it could be caused by an error reading the disc and by putting it on your HDD you can stop this.
OR
If you have it already installed onto your HDD try removing it and seeing if it helps.

I think it is a common bug, as it has happened to me during that specific mission also. My only advise would be to not save until the mission in completed. Also, try not to have it load too much at once, such as hitting a lot of buttons rapidly.

I had this problem also a while ago, at the point where you need to turn the purple barrier off.
Every time I saved or it auto-saved, it crashed. What I done was continue with the quest, with all auto-saving off, completed it and got back outside. Manually saved my game and it worked. From that point I've had auto-save on ever since once again.
Hope you sort it out!

Yeah just do as I told you. Continue with the quest but DON'T save. Turn all auto-save features off. It should work, then once you finish the quest and are outside you should be able to save normally.
