Just an update to your post- The AverMedia Game Capture HD now supports 1080p format. It recently had a firmware upgrade. This is the way to go guys, I have one

i just bought an easy cap and when i click on record it says not signal detected and its in black and white, do you know how to fix it?

The Roxio HD Gamecapture is definetly the way to go. It's the cheapest and it's basically the equivalent to the elgato but cheaper and a little bigger.
