WOW, thats one god damn good pc. if your thinking of starting youtube video endering or graphics design, 16gb and i7 is the way to go, also if your not making vids the i5 is more designed for gaming as a whole whereas the i7 is more designed for graphics like photoshop ETC. also most games dont run more than 4gb of ram when playing on the best settings so 16gb is plenty. i have 8gb and a AMD FX-4170 4.20ghz quad core and my computer can run any game i throw at it. also i think your going OTT with the power supply, the max wattage that would produce would be about 500-600 watts, bu obviously you bought it too be safe(i did too ) also a motherboard like that should be easily be able to use the Nvidia Gefore GTX 690 r 2 680's should you feel the need to change them. overall. that is one sweet computer and you shouldnt find any game that it wont play. and also ALWAYS remember to buy a really good cooler becuase if the cpu overheats and breaks, well i7 is like 250 anyways and it will probably send a power surge making your pc useless so never cheap out on the cooler!

Now, the fact that they had replicable results with two of the units should dispell all doubts that Thortech Plus-labeled units are to be avoided, but real expert sites like Jonnyguru, Tweaktown, Hardware Secrets, Kitguru, and more have conflicting results. They all found the whole Thunderbolt Plus line to be rock-solid and their results certainly overrule the ones in this video because of their reputations. Personally, I'd return the unit if possible and buy a different 550w (much more appropriate for your system) unit with unquestionable quality.

Otherwise, get an SSD!

@TTG_BLC - A CPU overheating will not send any sort of power surge. At a certain core temp, it will automatically halt to prevent damage to itself.

Forgot to include. I have OCZ Vertex 4 128GB 2.5" SSD SATA3 530/430 in it also

I edit video's in After effects CS6 and use Photo Shop cs6 allot too.

Honestly, TTL's conclusions in that video are not replicable and do not align with those made by much more respected PSU reviewers and experts. Honestly I'm not sure what I would do in your position.

It's not likely to fail and kill your parts, it's the ripple that would cause the damage with no indication it's happening. Unfortunately, you won't be equipped to test this.
