I think it would be stupid for them to attack us, I'm sure our defences would stop any attack, but a war would start and that doesn't help anyone.

Holy f*ck why are so Many of you supporting N.Korea you guys should really watch documentarys about north Korea there tarifiying brain washing,death camps and hateful dictators that murder so many people and your saying we wouldn't launch back. we'd send north Korea into the milkyway before they could even try to send two missle ur way. If there is one thing you all need to realize it's the Fact that when it comes to war you are on your own !.
Yes America has allies but when it comes to war allies have a habit of becoming natural.
Nato has never had the balls to act as a single military unit ,The best it has ever managed was for the kosovo war where they sent in troops as peace keepers and then ordered us to sit and watch while people were being raped and killed in there thousands.
Most of Europe will only look out for there own interests (EXAMPLE = France will tell you that they are natural but what they wont tell you is that they are busy selling missiles to your enemy ,Like they did with Britain when the falklands war was going on.).
In truth the only other country you could really count on is Great Britain which is one of the reasons they call it a special relationship.
Other than death war is the one constant entity of man ,We as a race define our selves through the horrors of it .

Alright so let me just say exactly what would happen if they actually did go through with this completely bogus threat. First off they are arguably around 40-50 years behind us in terms of nuclear weapon technology (Basically the weapons they possess are still the big fat bombs like the ones dropped on Japan) and with a weapon like that they arent capable of accurately hitting any US state besides POSSIBLY Hawaii although that is doubtful aswell, plus seeing as they still need a plane to transfer the bomb in they also possess very primitive equipment from the 60-70s give or take 5 years or so, which means that any number of our defenses stationed in any of the states in or bordering the pacific ocean would immediately be dispatched to take the bomber out before it was within 500 miles of anything important. Second the fallout from attempting something so ridiculously stupid would be immense with retaliation coming from most likely the whole of the UN's forces from most of the UN countries. Third but definitely not least is the fact that they really have no true allies anymore, Once the Soviet Union toppled in 1991 they lost their most vital ally (which was the main reason for the Great North Korean Famine of the 90's, but thats a different story for a different time) and now their only true "friend" is China, but China only gives them Aid (Money) because China doesnt want a reunified Korea (North and South combining) which would then most likely bring the US troops stationed in South Korea even closer than they already are (which is very bad for china in terms of vulnerability). So I think what this most likely boils down to is them trying to extort aid from anyone they can while still refusing to follow the rules set forth in the past 20-30 years by Organizations such as the UN, or just countries like the US. Its just so pathetic how they act and I say within our lifetime we will most likely see the war that never ended (the korean war is at a ceasefire which technically means they are still at war) start up again and when it does Im sure the Kim Regime will topple pathetically when they do something and then have no one to back them up, its unfortunate though that when this happens that civilized nations like the US or countries from the EU will have to clean up the mess and deal with the 24 million poverty stricken and rural refugees that pour out from NK.

Actually, following recent news, their bombs are between 5-7kilotons. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were "15kt and 22kt respectively".
