Are the new iMacs any good for gaming?
And what are they really used for? Like what are they best for?

Macs are never going to be good for gaming.

No they are not.
Macs are good for waisting money. Mostly for people that don't know a lot about computers. Most macs end up as 2000$ facebook/email pcs because that is all they can be used for. Also, you can do a little editing on it.

So really... never buy a mac unless you want to waste money on something that is outdated every year.

So much ignorance.

You're right when you say the 21.5'' version of the iMac is overpriced and bad value but that does not mean the 27'' version follows those characteristics. It's actually pretty good value considering what you're getting. For example, the 27'' iMac uses a high resolution IPS panel which alone costs easily over $800. You then proceed to add all the core components like a CPU, MOBO, RAM, etc and you'll see the price difference between building it yourself and buying a 27'' iMac is very slim. Yes, I don't see why a GTX 660M could not play some mainstream titles ( assuming you dual boot with Windwos and turn down the resolution ).

If you don't know what you're talking about, don't post and make it seem like you do.

This Is Really Not True, I Am Typing This Right Now On a 27" iMac From 2011 With An i5, 6770m And 12gb Ram And It Can Max Out Crysis 2 On Ultra With 60fps+ While Running Through Parallels Which Limits My Graphics Memory From 512mb To 256mb, So Saying They Cannot Game Is Completely Incorrect, They Can Edit Better Than Any Windows Computer With Similar Specs, The Software They Use , The Simplicity Of It Beats It's Compeititor Any Day.

And Also Good Luck Trying To Find a Higher Quality Screen For Cheaper Than 700/800.

And video editing, graphic design, music, photography, but I guess anything that isn't considered gaming to you is "facebook/email". Ignorance.

No, not at all. Alienware is good for gaming. They can run Minecraft good though.
