Skyrim Overview

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The Empire of Tamriel is on the edge. The High King of Skyrim has been murdered. Alliances form as claims to the throne are made. In the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil is awakened. Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned to Tamriel. The future of Skyrim, even the Empire itself, hangs in the balance as they wait for the prophesied Dragonborn to come; a hero born with the power of The Voice, and the only one who can stand amongst the dragons.

General Tips

The Rumormongers

Whenever you visit a new town, seek out the local inn or tavern and ask the bartender about any rumors they have heard to find hidden side quest.

Fast Travel Is Your Friend

With fast travel just look at your map and press (A) or (X) on any location that is highlighted (meaning you have been there before) and you can instantly travel to that location.

Storage

Sometimes there's just to much stuff to get in the world of Skyrim. Carrying it all is impossible so try giving some of your heavy items to your followers or putting them in chest or barrels. Just don't forget where you put them

You can also buy a house and keep your stuff there. Be careful though as Skyrim is buggy and your items may disappear if you don't put them in a chest or something.

Reading Books

There are TONS of books in the world of Skyrim. Some lead you to quest, and others increase your skill level. You don't actually have to read them just open them than close them. Most books that are worth 50 or more gold will teach your a skill.

Look through the inventory of every kill (especially Skeevers)

it may seem like a hassle but you should look through almost everything you kill because they is all ways a chance to find something really valuable, and you almost always find 15-30 gold in each corpse. Though it may not seem like a lot it builds up over time.

Saving Arrows

If you accidentally pulled back your arrow and don't want to fire it simply put away the bow to cancel the shot.

How to Climb Mountains

Sometimes you will find yourself walking up a mountain and its to steep to climb. Simply keep strafing along the mountain while jumping and eventually it will jump and sooner or later you will make it up the mountain.

Add Several Points of Interest to Your Map

You'll pick up points of interest on you overland map through conversations, but there's at least one place in the game where you can add several all at once. In Mistveil Keep (Jarl's court) in Riften, there's a room to the left behind the throne room with a map that displays which towns are controlled by the Imperial forces and which are controlled by the Stormcloaks. You can add all of these towns to your own map by clicking on them. It doesn't allow you to fast travel if you haven't found them yet, but at least you'll know where they are.

Quick Experience and Skill Gain

ILLUSION SKILL

There is an illusion spell called "Muffle" use it to silence your foot steps. Use it while walking around anywhere to continuously increase your illusion skill and overall experience.

RESTORATION SKILL

For restoration magic you need to heal damage to increase it. So continuously stand in fire or jump off a high area and heal to increase your restoration and overall experience.

TRAINING FOR FREE

NOTE: For this you need to have a decent pick pocketing level

Find someone who will train you in a skill. Wait til night time until they are sleeping in bed. Wake them up and train one time than leave them alone til they go back to sleep. After they go back to sleep pick pocket your money back form them and train again. (REPEAT)

You can gain multiple levels if you continue to train the maximum (5/5) skill ups even after you level. Once you level up you are free to retrain the maximum 5/5. If you want to truly see your level skyrocket then mix in the above "Illusion skill" tip mentioned above.

Guilds

There are 4 guilds

The Companions (Fighters Guild)
The Companions are basically the fighters guild. You can find them in Jorrvaskr within Whiterun.

College of Winterhold (Mages Guild)
The College Of Winterhold is basically the mages guild. It can be found in the city of Winterhold and requires at least some magic ability.

Thieves' Guild
The Theives' Guild is a clan stationed in the sewers of Riften. As the name suggests, they specialize in lockpicking, pickpocketing, and overal thievery. To start this questline, speak to Brynjolf in Riften. He owns one of the market stands in the center of town.

The Dark Brotherhood (Assassins Guild)
To join the Dark Brotherhood, you need to talk to Aventus Aretino in Windhelm and accept his first quest.

My Personal Opinion

Skyrim was a well thought out game in its entirety. I love the elder scrolls series and this tops every one of the. The amount of detail put into this game is staggering and unbelievable. The game is beautiful and always fun. It will deliver hundreds of hours of play time.

Overall I would give this game 9.6/10

Dawnguard DLC

Dawnguard revolves around an ancient prophecy predicted by an Elder Scroll. Foretelling the eternal obfuscation of the sun, the scroll gave instructions on how to perform a magic ritual with a mythic bow and a special blood sacrifice. A legion of vampires known as Clan Volkihar, lead by Lord Harkon, seek to actuate the prophecy by performing the ritual; the Dawnguard, a faction of crossbow-wielding vampire hunters counters their aims. Skyrim's Dragonborn protagonist chooses whether to join the Dawnguard and prevent Nirn for being plunged in irrevocable night, or assist the vampire coven with realizing their malevolent ambition
With the purchase of this DLC you will unlock 22 new quests, new weapons and armor, new map locations, creatures, characters, items, magic, and two new skill trees one vampirism (Vampire Lord) and the other lycanthropy.

Hearthfire DLC

With this official add-on to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, you can purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with an armory, alchemy laboratory, stable, garden, and more. Use all-new tools like the drafting table and carpenter's workbench to transform quarried stone, clay, and sawn logs into structures and furnishings. Even transform your house into a home by adopting children.

Dragonborn DLC

With this official add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, journey off the coast of Morrowind, to the island of Solstheim. Encounter new towns, dungeons, and quests, as you traverse the ash wastes and glacial valleys of this new land. Become more powerful with new shouts that bend the will of your enemies and even tame dragons. Your fate, and the fate of Solstheim, hangs in the balance as you face off against your deadliest adversary the first Dragonborn.

Why are you trying to replace the other ultimate guides?
Furthermore, why are you doing that if you don't play Skyrim or really know about it?

Tamriel isn't an empire, Tamriel is the continent that beholds the provinces of all the playable races and more.

Could you at least try to replace the ultimate threads when your replacement is accurate and you didn't just copy and paste everything?

EDIT: Riverwood is a minor city. Rorikstead* Not Rorickstead.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Helgen doesn't count as it is eviscerated before you get much of a say in the game.

you don't say? I never knew boots went on feet, like seriously I've been putting shoes on my hands for the past few years..
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] <--- many powerful daggers and all weapons are weak until upgraded at a grindstone
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] <-- multiple ways to join, and the one you listed is very boring and doesn't give you a background on Cicero. Plus, where are the videos? You need to be more specific.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] <-- vampires aren't very common. Dragons are not either common or rare, just very random. Some people it can be rare to see and others find them 24/7. Ice wraiths aren't common, dogs you only see a few in each city. Frost atronachs only happen about when summoned by a necromancer or other magical figure.

2. OP was refering more to their involvement within the main storyline of skyrim, of course the holds would be the "Larger" cities.

3.Ok, spelling on rorikstead, i'll give you that. After the recent wizard competition my head hasn't fully recovered, just overlooked a word out of 2k+.

3. It's still a village even though it was pillaged.

4.It's a general guide 0_o

5.It's a general outlook on the basic weapon mechanics in game.

6.It's the most simple way and the most re-occurring "theme" within the guild quest lines. You go into the beginning "town" and asking the local "bars" or "inns" and asking the clerk if they've heard any news.

7.Vampires,thralls,etc are abundant within the many caves and keeps. Due to their inability to roam freely around the world at night they are centralized to mainly caves.
The common dragon is very common. I always seem to catch a hold of one of their eyes once every 20 minutes or so, and that's in the middle of nowhere roaming around and hunting. Whereas the legendary dragon is a rare occurrence.Ice wraiths are common within northern skyrim and around the mouth of the world etc. There are dogs scattered throughout the world of skyrim, from guard dogs to wandering dogs in the wilderness. Then of course you have their brethren wolves. Atronachs in a common sense are quite populous due to the high number of necromacers, etc. that always seem to love to spawn them.

Thanks for your input!

So you admit to copying and pasting this whole topic?
and vampires only become a bit more common when you get 2 quests into Dawnguard.
Aslo you claim the large and minor cities has to do with involvement to main story.
Riften is involved for one quest, Riverwood has many quests, reporting back, meeting for plans, first stop after Helgen.
Whiterun is for 2 quests before the quests focus randomly in the wilderness. Solitude had no involvement in the main quest.

If you count Helgen it is actually a town. Much larger than Falkreath and a village is very small.
Example: Skaal Village in the Dragonborn DLC.

Whats the point of it?

All the stickies in this section have all the information and more than this topic does

If this topic was unique in some way then yes it would be a useful topic

BUT

there isnt any new information that is actually useful

Also,

you've pretty much put 2 lines in for your personal opinion on the game...

If you want a huge topic you have to put the effort in the post to make it stand out (you being a good member n all means you should know that)

I could do this post in under 1 hour due to the fact i can copy and paste everything of another site.

Writing it yourself just wastes time, i copied and pasted in mine but thats because it saves time. All you need to do is credit the resource and write a bibliography
