After months of waiting, the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 on firmware ios 6 - 6.1 can now be successfully jailbroken. This is an untethered jailbreak by Team Evad3rs.

Instructions

1)Have your iPhone restored (through iTunes, not over wifi) to either firmware 6.0 or 6.1, or download the firmwares here. Make sure it's a clean install to avoid jailbreak problems.

2) Download your version of the program from Team Evad3rs at evasi0n.com, or click the following for your OS. This tutorial is being done on Windows, but will work with the other OS as well. Download your version of the program.

3) Install, and connect your iPhone to iTunes.

4) Open evasi0n-win-1.0 and run the program

5) Click Jailbreak, wait until it's done (may take more than three minutes)

6) Follow onscreen instructions (Tells you to unlock your phone and click an app it has installed)

7) Your iPhone should reboot and then proceed to install Cydia.

Important Read Me!

Backup your device using iTunes (or iCloud) before using evasi0n. If something breaks, you'll always be able to recover your data.

Please disable the lock passcode of your iOS device before using evasi0n. It can cause issues.

Avoid all iOS and iTunes related tasks until evasi0n is complete. Why not just enjoy a brief break from the computer to stretch your legs?

If the process gets stuck somewhere, it's safe to restart the program, reboot the device (if necessary by holding down Power and Home until it shuts down), and rerun the process.

If you get an error on OS X 10.8 saying that evasi0n can't be opened, control-click (or right-click) the app and on the revealed context menu, choose 'Open.' On the ensuing dialogue box, choose 'Open' as well.
