Does anyone know how to fix the error with having to get the dvd key and/or flash it. It happened to my friend and we can't seem to fix it. The xbox is fully taken apart. So if anyone has anything to help us out it would really be appreciated. Also which ever tip gets it fixed i will +Rep.

Well a last resort is to take a Q-Tip, make a slightly moist, and rub it lightly in a circular motion. Then let it dry. This may fix it, but use this as a last resort. Hope this helped.

Don't you need a dvd key to do that? Or do you just hook it up?

Its been taken apart. We did everything. Cotton swap did not work. It worked one time and the way we got it to work was keep opening and closing the disk drive but now its not working when we do that. So I think he is just going to get a new one and i might just buy a dvd drive and see what i can do. Thanks to everyone trying to help I really appreciate it.
