probably not, the games on 720 will not be able to be played on a 360,
but i am unsure if they are making a new XBL System, if they keep the same you may be able to play old arcade games etc, there are many factors

He's asking if people with the 720 can play with people using the 360, I think. And if that is what you are asking then the answer is possibly.

I don't think so they would lose alot of money because people would just stay on the 360 to play with friends on the 720

First, if they were to do this there wouldn't be a reason to upgrade consoles. Not to mention you'd would only be able to chat with eachother as the new console will be a huge upgrade in technology so new games will have much higher quality which our current consoles would almost certainly not be able to handle.

Not to mention they will probably end up building a new Xbox Live service like they did with the 360 from the original Xbox. One day I am sure the 360 Xbox Live servers will end up like the original Xbox Live and be wiped out... That'll truly be a sad day.

If it isn't backwards compatible there will be no reason for it. And that'd be the game creators choice to do that. I don't see why they would do that though as there really is no reason for it.
