The secret to emblem ranks might be on CoD Elite. If you go to Elite you will see your stats in a certain order different from the game menu. It could be the order of importance to rank up! And people with shotguns have consistently had these stats pretty high. Let me know what you guys think.
Here is the order: Kills, Accuracy, Headshots, Revives, Doors, Perks, Grenade Kills, Traveled Miles
It also shows your last 10 games and hours played. And when I decided to raise my accuracy and headshots, low and behold I got the knife in one game.
