It's going to be a full time for gaming and video editing
First of all 120gb is going to fill up extremely fast. Especially if the PC is for gaming and video editing. Not to mention the OS and the programs you will need (Steam, Photoshop, Sony vegas, 10+ games). Have fun with that.
Save yourself $100 and get a 7970. They perform the same, if not better, in most games, and costs a lot less.
Also, the pc looks to be pre-built... which would explain why it has Windows 8. No one in their right mind would want use W8 on a gaming/editing pc. The functionality is horrible, not to mention the dozens of bugs and errors. On top of all that, you could get a free version of W7 with no downside.
"I heard it boots faster" Whoop-de-freakin'-doo. I'm not even sure if this is true or not, not it is irrelevant to the build.
Lastly, why do you need a full-tower case? There is literally no point... LITERALLY. They cost more and are bigger. Bigger does not mean better (insert sexual pun *here*). It's a waste of money and a good mid-tower will fit all of your parts with plenty of room to spare.
Is it overkill? Not really. Is it a terrible build? More or less. Could it be better? Yes.
Oh and as far as keyboards and mice go. The Logitech G400 is an amazing gaming mouse and costs less than $40. For a keyboard it depends on a lot of things. Do you plan on typing A LOT on it? Do you need a numpad? Illuminated? Etc. I personally find Razor products are extremely overpriced and low quality. They provide "flash", but that's about it. I don't see their appeal in the gaming community and wouldn't be caught dead using one.
1: The SSD is for now seeing that I'm pretty sure the OS, FRAPS and maybe 2 games wont fill it up. I have a separate laptop for editing. It's a start with a few games until I get a 2 TB Caviar Black drive. Obviously 10 games won't fit. Common sense if you ask me haha.
2: The 7970 is close to the GTX 680 but I rather pay a little more for something with a greater performance. $100 isn't really alot and I have a $1500 range for the PC itself or a little more and maybe a $100-$150 accessory range.
3: It isn't pre-built lol. I looked at prices on a pre built website seeing that I needed help with some motherboards and then I compared them with Neweggs reviews and overviews. And if you read the comments you would know that I have never used W8 which is why I asked for the drawbacks beside the METRO interface. And as for getting it free, that was exactly what I was going to do which is why I didn't care too much. That's what several users have said when reviewing it about it booting faster and having longer support.
4: I like full tower cases simply because it's less of a mess and easier to replace things and it gives A LOT more room for upgrades. That isn't really something I wanted help on.
5: I will definitely look at the mouse than. And the keyboard doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just an arm rest really.
I'm not going to type on it much really and I agree with you on razor. Have you ever recommend SteelSeries? And would you change to make it better as in hardware wise?
All valid points. I didn't mean to come off as snarky.
However, I do disagree with a couple things...
The 120gb will become a hassle and only drag your system down until you buy an HDD. You'll find yourself constantly uninstalling programs and games that you "might just wanna" keep on there. It doesn't make a huge deal, just my advice.
Firstly, buying a 7970 would save you money. Sure, $100 isn't a lot (don't know what part of the world you live in where it isn't... but I wanna move there), but that $100 could be spent on something more important, like an HDD.
Take a look at these links. They will show that the GTX 680 doesn't have "greater" performance, as you claim. GPUs are weird pieces of technology... they are only as strong as the drivers that support them. Admittedly, AMD drivers aren't up to par with NVIDIA, but the 7970 more-or-less "ties" with the 680 (and even outperforms it in over %50 of games). On top of that, some games are specifically optimized for AMD or NVIDIA. Therefore, the game is going to run better on the card it's optimized for.

tl;dr
Buy the 7970... seriously.
Now that we've decided to opt with the 7970 (you have decided that... haven't you...?), we can move on. Not even going to dedicate a paragraph to W8. Just... don't do it man. No.
As r00t said for the full tower case, there really is no point. I never considered the issue with cables, but that is something to think about.
I cannot stress how great the g400 is. I can honestly say I saw an increase in my gaming performance after upgrading to it. It feels amazing and is priced amazingly. For a keyboard (hate me now), i recommend a logitech g110. It has illumination, macro keys, amazing media keys, and plenty of great features. I'm not sure how the price of it is looking nowadays, but it's worth checking out.
haha you didn't bro. and I took these into consideration. And I changed the case to a NZXT Phantom 410, you guys convinced me to go WIN7, and I was going to get the GTX 670 but seeing that the 7970 brings 2 games, it seams like a steal especially since it is cheaper and runs with about no difference at all. (Havent seen links yet but I will now).
Also I made the motherboard a ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE and it threw in 8gb of Corsair Vengeance RAM "Free". Does that sound ok? And which company would best fit the 7970?
As for the keyboard its priced at $70 which is definately around my range lol. So is the mouse
That RAM is high-profile and it will limit compatibility with aftermarket coolers, as shown here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
So your best bet is to buy a motherboard that's reasonably priced, specifically the Extreme4 at the moment, and the CPU + RAM combo I linked in my previous post. It's also better to have RAM in dual-channel if possible and having two sticks will make life much easier if one fails and you have to troubleshoot. You can't easily troubleshoot RAM problems with only one stick.
As for the SSD, you will want a hard drive as well. I wouldn't recommend having an SSD only if you want to store any data besides your OS, applications, or a few games. With this kind of budget, an SSD is really a must because storage is going to be the bottleneck for normal usage. 120/128GB is ideal for speed and price per gigabyte, but you can expect to pay $75 for a quality 64GB drive if you want one. It's plenty for your installation and applications.
As for the keyboard, I don't recommend cheaping out, but it's up to you. MX Browns are arguably the best beginner switch and they're the hardest not to like. These are some good MX Brown boards:

If you want MX Blues, which are best suited for typing due to their clickiness and tacitility, the Quickfire TK is a very nice deal right now. Backlit, even.

And finally the graphics card. It's probably best for you to get the 670 if you use the Adobe Suite because GPU acceleration with CUDA will make performance, much, much better. AMD cards have OpenCL, though, which also can boost performance when supported and enabled.

Higher-budget 670: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Thanks and because the 7970 brings Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinate its definately the one i'll stick to. And I'll defiately switch the board then because that is something I definately want to avoid.

I didn't read through the thread, but if you want Windows 8, buy it. There is no advantage of if compared to windows 7 for gaming, but there isn't any disadvantage either. I think almost every game that runs on Window 7, will run on 8.

Not overkill at all, depending on the amount of editing you do, you may even want to upgrade.
It's great as-is though.
Like others say, Windows 8 is a pile of junk, it has some neat features and all, but for gaming, editing, it's absolute junk. I made the mistake on my second build.

Out of curiosity, how is Windows 8 terrible for gaming?
