Teleportation is possible, and has been done.

Teleportation of HUMANS however, is another subject completely.

To be teleported, a human would have to be converted to pure energy and light, essentially killing them. So even if they were teleported I presume they would come out either dead, or in a vegetative state.

But, what if they found a way to turn humans into energy without killing them, think of how much technology would of upgraded.

But there may not even be a way to discover, as it's physically impossible, with today's science knowledge at least.

Even if we were to find a way to do that, it would cost trillions of dollars just to convert them, nevermind transporting them as pure energy, and then reverting them to human form.

Before this happens, we'd need to find a way to make humans from pure energy. Which is not possible, currently.

Also, there is no physical state for pure energy as it's just energy.

But even if all goes to plan and teleportation is invented, it wouldn't be used for teleporting. It'd be used as a weapon of disintegration.

Sith wrote In relation to just teleportation of objects and, if you've seen The Fly, chimps, we sort of can.

But, it involves destroying the thing in the first place and rebuilding an exact replica in the second, so that could have some bad outcomes for humans and their conscience.

To be honest, logically, I can't see any way in which we could teleport humans unless it involved the use of wormholes which I don't think will be proven, let alone harnessed in the next 200 years.

[Why the hell is 'Teleport' not a recognized word?]

Yeah, that's definitely the biggest problem with teleporting. You would technically have to die for a split second while all your atoms are being transported.

It's strange to think about but if you do teleport your not you anymore. You're just a copy.

this is a matter of Debate. Currently the only thing that has been successfully Transported via a teleportation method is a radio signal. an extremley short and simple burst of sound was recorded and teleported and tested back at around 96% intact.

But teleportation isnt limited to energy conversion it is simply transporting matter from A-B.

So if we were to develop Wormhole tech this could be a viable way to transport anything.

Currently scientists are working on using Dark Matter, they interestignly discovered that each dark matter particle is made up of 2 halfs connected and it looks like if you place your 2 thumbs together end on end and one faces the opposite way. What ever they do to one half instantly replicates on the second half meaning if you were to cut one finger on one half the other would cut too, this change doesn't seem to matter when it comes into distance either, i dont know the exact details but i read that they tested of numerous distances and the outcome was the same each time with no time delay.

If they could find some way to use this is a viable way to teleport an item, it would be as you said, the other side would receive a perfect copy of your self.

Mimz wrote It's plausible. But if you want the truth, I doubt it'll happen. A main reason is religion, (not trying to be a d*ck). But cloning has been stopped for the most part because of religious groups disagreeing with the whole process. It involves souls, etc.
Maybe one day it will be possible without hindrance.

As far as the future if this occurs. I think this would become the new "space race". Everyone will be racing to teleport the furthest. When finally done, it would probably be used for war.

I think eventually though, everyone would have to unite because of an event. For example, if Alien's are found, the Earth would be required to unite because it wouldn't be possible to deal with relations at home while worrying about our space friends.

I think religion has done nothing but slowed us down, we would be much further scientifically.

For teleportation, I don't think it is possible, but maybe we will find a way.

As for finding 'Aliens' we would have to unite, I agree with that. The possibilities of us running into a foreign race is very high considering how big the universe is.

Agreed, I actually did calculations on how many planets could inhabit humans, causing humanoid lifeforms plausible.

It was something like 2,000,000,000 planets in the known universe.

I do agree that teleportation is very possible but not within the next 200years.

People who have said about teleporting a human is tricky because the atoms would
need to be in the exact same arrangement they were in, yet probably still would die.
Well How about if you experimented and did that with an animal then if you were brave enough
a human, and the test shown that the atoms were arranged in the same order yet still were
dead.

This would show that we have an energy or spirit in us!
Just a theory.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity.
