I'm watching Sinister as I am typing this and I got scared because of a jump scare.
And I was wondering if horror films from the 90s or 80s or in the early 2000s were genuinely scary or were they always jump scares?

P.S Do any of you guys know of an actual scary movie that isn't just jump scares?

Horror movies have Never contained any kind of interesting storyline, its just trying to freak out the viewer as much as possible. It is mostly jump scares, BUT, they try to enhance the visual effects of the movie to make it more eerie and what not too.

Yea it seems there's a lot of western horror movies that are just jump scares. If you want the real gruesome horror you want to go with movies a East.

If you're intested in a list I can pm you some names
