ok, if its just for Minecraft i would recommend getting something like a:
-AMD A8-5600K
-8GB corsair XMS3 1333Mhz
-Just some cheap case
-a Western Digital 500GB Blue
-You wouldn't need a graphics card 'inb4 everyone yells at me, but the built in graphics for the a8-5600k are fine'
-AsRock FM2A75 PRO4
-CIT 450 Watt gold PSU

Erm... No. An i3 consistently outperforms the 4100 for a cheaper price. Also, a 7750 will do fine if he's only playing minecraft. OP, here's what I've thought up for you:

And if you're up for spending a bit more, you can go with this gpu instead: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Final cost: 403 with 7750; 423 with 7770

If you want you could downgrade a bit but thats more or less perfect for what you need
Overkill graphics card for what he wants.
For EXACTLY what you want to do -

Overkill ram? Yes.
Overkill PSU? Yes.
Overkill everything? Yes
Does it leave you room to upgrade in the future? Yes. Especially with AMD's new range of CPU's coming out this year. After the large leap from Bulldozer to Piledriver (I think it was) they're looking hopeful.
The CPU is very overclockable, and for anyone that's going to say that "i3 is better" it's not in this case, as the A10 will be used for it's APU capabilities, which is another reason I got 1866 Mhz RAM. The ETS T40 TB will make sure the A10 will keep cool.

Yes the i3 outperforms the 4100, however it's going to make no difference at this price point, and you get an AM3+ board with it - more features for a lower price, and it will be largely upgradeable in the future because of the AMD CPU's that are coming out which will feature full AM3+ support; unlike Intel which will require yet another new motherboard.
In this case, an AMD processor is the better option, normally however you'd be 100% on the money.

Why get an aftermarket cooler? He's not overclocking.

Because 4GB of high speed RAM which had a higher CL was ~6 pounds cheaper.
