text tut:

1. Have a friend go into custom games and load a game type that YOU have created.

2. Friend should be sitting in custom games

3. With your account load up that same game type, then go to multiplayer menu and highlight over Public Match.

4. Now press Y and join your friends session. But keep mashing A.

5. Once your in the lobby have your friend back out of the lobby.

6. On your screen you should see "waiting for players" if not attempt again.
With this glitch you have to modify the settings before the game starts.
