This is kind of old but we talked about it in my science class a while back and I decided to look into it today. Anyway they have successfully stored data on DNA and recover it later. This means that more data will be able to be stored in an even smaller case so petabyte drives or even larger will probably be here soon.

I don't see the point in so much memory storage.

At one point people relied on 512 MB to store all of their data on.
Times change, games change, programs change, things become higher quality and higher definition, and we expand, it's going to most likely going to become very common quite soon.
At one point installing a game on your computer would take up about 1G at the most, now there are some games that take up as much as 40g.

You can already purchase 1PB of storage, it just costs 500 grand and will take up a the size of a staircase.

Awesome! It may not be cost effective right off the bat but at least it won't take them thousands of years to develop this type of tech, Amazing!
