I use Cinema 4d and photoshop. Use those, because gimp will confuse you if you ever upgrade to photoshop

Don't use cinema 4d unless you are doing 3d abstract art, I hate these bums who make 3d youtube backgrounds which they just mix a bunch of screens together.

Get photoshop, illustrator and lightroom (if you get into photography.)

Photoshop is good for general graphics.
Illustrator for ANY cartoons or logos.
Lightroom for ANYTHING photography related.

I would have to say get Photoshop trail first before you even start with C4D. reason being is you won't have any idea where to start with C4D play around with Photoshop for couple months and it all depends on what kind of graphics you will be creating ex: YouTube/Logos/Designs ect.. you can quickly learn how to make simple 2d graphics by watching tutorials on YouTube that's how much people learn once you get the hang of it and think you should move on the next step in graphics go ahead and download C4D but remember their is so much more to graphics then just text and a background you will learn throughout your graphics experience when using Photoshop which
is one of the most common programs to edit (NOT Create) text and add really cool effects ect.. if you need help with download or creative simple graphics feel free to send me a message on TTG and i will respond as soon as possible with a clear step
by step answer if needed.
