what processor.

how much ram.

what graphics card.

with that im guessing it is stock everything and it was probably a laptop under $500 with that kind of computer it will be hard to run anything. since you have a laptop it will be nearly impossible to upgrade processor and graphics card. start building a computer, its cheaper and better for preformance.

Your problem is buying a laptop. My guess is your running on Intel HD Graphics

Just because it's new, doesn't mean you can play new games.
Considering it's using integrated graphics + is a potato, you won't be able to play much.

Here, I think I pointed out the problem.

OT: It depends what games you're trying to play, if you're trying to play ARMA II then they'res going to be lag because you need a a decent PC to get decent FPS or be playable for that matter, but if you can't run Minecraft, then... good lord.

And most laptops have integrated graphics which aren't good for gaming.

But if you want to try get seemingly better FPS, you could always try and download Gamebooster, and that should help a little, not a lot, but it should help.
And I've known from experience, I bought a laptop for $800 bucks and I wanted to use it for recording gameplay, and playing PC games, and it worked well for recording but it could only run a few games with decent FPS (Ex. MW2, Cod4, Minecraft.) But download Game Booster, and see if that helps at all. Good luck.
