How to Rank up on Black Ops 2 Zombies

In this thread I'll write down what's known about the Black Ops 2 Zombies ranking system. I will update the thread with new information when it arrives and delete information once we know it's false. If you want MAX rank on Black Ops 2 Zombies you came to the right place. The Ranking system on zombies is completely different to online, it's not based on kill to death ratio. However it is based on Kill to Down Ratio

Ranking System
Players have to ability to rank up during the Zombie mode of Black Ops 2. You increase your rank by performing well overall and maintaining a high Kill / Down Ratio. Your KDR has a great impact on your ranking.

Every player starts with the same rank and can rank up 5 times.

Rank 1: Wooden Shield with 1 Bone
Rank 2: Wooden Shield with 2 Bones Crossing
Rank 3: Wooden Shield with Skull
Rank 4: Metal Shield with Skull + Knife
Rank 5: Metal Shield with Skull + 2 shotguns

Kill - Down Ratio Emblems
1. You start as One Bone
2. To Get to 2 Bones 40-50 KD
3. To Get to Skull - 55-60 KD
4. To get to skull with Knife - 100-150 KD
5. To get to Skull with 2 shotguns - 200 + KD

How to Work out your Kill to Down Ratio :
You Get your Kills and Downs and divide them by each other.
Example :
Kills : 26,535
Downs : 124
26,535 Divided by 123
Current KD : 213

Tally Mark System
You can get Blue eyes on the Skull, Skull with knife and with shotguns.
In order to get the blue eyes you need to play zombies everyday for 5 days.
1 Days = 1 tally mark
2 Days = 2 tally mark
3 Days = 3 tally mark
4 Days = 4 tally mark
5 Days = 5 tally marks & Blue Eyes

However if you have 3 tally marks and you don't play the next day at all.
you will loose 1 tally mark.

High Rounds
When playing zombies go for high rounds consistently, Aim for a 30+ Higher.
Reason : I had knife with skull emblem and i got to round 52 on die rise, after that game i got the shotguns.
I told a lot of people to go for high rounds and some skipped the tally system and went straight to the blue eyes, skipped a rank or have got a rank up.

Be a Good team player
When playing a public match or with your friends, try to revive them and not just leave them, the ranking system is based also on Skill. Open doors for people and friends, at the end of the day your going to get a rank up for being a good team player and supporting the team getting high rounds.

The Zombie Ranks
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You can see how close you are from entering the next rank by the tally marks on the top left of your ranking. Tally marks are gained by consecutive playing plays. Your rank starts with no tally marks and goes all the way up to 5 tally marks, at this stage you will also gain the blue eyes with the emblems that contain the skull (rank 3,4 and 5). After 5 tally marks you will jump to the next rank.

Deranking System
Performance: As mentioned above, your KDR has a great impact on your ranking. When your KDR goes down and / or you perform below your average, your rank will go down. How much it goes down by depends entirely on how poorly you performed. Don't look surprised when you lose a few tally marks at a time.

Time (Rank Up time)
When you don't play Zombies mode for a 24 period you will start losing your ranking. The rate at which you lose your ranking is 1 tally mark per 24 hour period. It isn't possible to lose your main ranking, only tally marks.
For example: Say your current rank is the Shield with Skull and 4 tally marks. If you go don't play the Zombies mode for 24 hours, you will drop down to Shield with Skull and 3 tally marks. If you don't play for another 4 days, you will only drop down to the Skull with Shield and 0 tally marks. You won't drop down to the Shield with the Crossing Bones.

The ranking system is updated at 12 AM GMT (7 PM EST). This is the exact time you will lose a tally mark if you haven't played for 24 hours.

Few Zombies Tips

DO NOT PLAY TURNED. Every time you turn into a zombie that counts as 1 Down on your leaderboards and your rank. This is really bad if you want to rank up on zombies.

1.GET POINTS EARLY: The faster you earn points, the better off youll be in later rounds. The goal of every Zombies Mode is survival. Using points, youll be able to purchase weapons, perks, and open doors to reach new areas.

2.MELEE EARNS MORE: Killing a zombie with a melee attack will earn you twice as many points as shooting them. Its a good idea to whittle down a zombies health with body shots, then finish it off with a stab. Beware groups, this method is best used against a single zombie.

3.GET QUICK-REVIVE: A very important perk. Find Quick-Revive early and purchase it. Online, itll cost 1500 points, but will only cost 500 if youre playing solo.
WORK TOGETHER: Dont be a lone wolf. Stay close to your team, and call out zombies if theyre attacking from behind. The easiest way to die in any Zombies map is to let zombies get behind the players.

4.USE THE MYSTERY BOX: While the wall-mounted weapons are your best bet for easy access to more ammo, the Mystery Box will provide some great options. If you get a weapon you dont like, its always a good gamble to try again.

5.UPGRADE WITH PACK-A-PUNCH: Once you have a weapon you like, save up cash for the Pack-a-Punch perk machine. These machines are tough to reach, especially in Tranzit. Theyre also pricey, but very worthwhile. Check out our guide for finding the Pack-A-Punch in Tranzit below.

Teddy #3: The last teddy is upstairs, in the yellow building opposite the sign. Climb the stairs and turn around to find a bunk bed, the teddy is on the top bunk. You might have to jump to interact.
Once all the teddies have been activated, the music will start.

Tranzit Tips for Beginners

Use the bank

In previous Call of Duty Zombie maps there was an emphasis on staying in the first room for five rounds. These days are behind us. You can now accumulate points and put them in the bank. Money stays in the bank between games. Deposit often and spend wisely and you can keep that bankroll going.

Set up in Round One

Once you have some money in the bank I suggest keeping a walker on round 1 while you get set up. By proper use of the bank you can start round two with all the perks and weapons you will need. This will not only give you an advantage, but it will save time by not having to traveling after each round.

Use Gavin Knuckles

Gavin Knuckles cost 6000, but are worth every penny. Use the bank and you can get the knuckles as early as round 1. With the Knuckles zombies are a one-punch kills until level 13. They will also help you kill Denizens (Fog Creatures) and the Electric Man. As an added bonus, you can use the knuckles to give other players money.

Learn to walk

The bus might feel like safety in early rounds, but it is a death trap in later rounds. If you can easily navigate the map you will be able to travel much faster which increases the chance that your team will hold a zombie for you.

Maximize Teleporters

Teleporters can pull you out of a tight jam, or stick you in one. I prefer to walk but will teleport if I am going to the other side of the map or if I don't have Jugger-Nog. Learn the teleporter locations and use them when needed. When able activate teleporters when you are running past them. It will stay active, and might save you during a future altercation.

6. Shield Yourself

I carry the Zombie Shield with me during the majority of the game. It can protect your back, get you out of a tight situation, and act as a distraction to the zombies. I equip the shield as soon as I do not need the Turbine.

Use EMP Grenades with Caution

EMP Grenades are great for quickly disposing of the Electric Guy. However, they can also temporarily disable your perks, dissolve power ups, turn off pack-a-punch, and stop the bus. Making a player lose their gun in pack-a-punch or an essential perk could be a game-ending event.

Hold a walker not a crawler

The crawler will die if nobody is in its area. If you don't want the round to start someone will hav to be the designated crawler babysitter. Babysitting a crawler is not very efficient. The babysitter will have to wait for relief in order to complete their own tasks. In comparison, a walker will continue to re-spawn if there are not any players in the area. Be cautious though, if the walker is damaged it could have the same fate as the crawler.

Don't expect to be revived

Formulate your strategy around this one fact. It is less common to be revived in Tranzit. Teams often split up in different areas. It is unlikely players will be able to travel to your area in time to revive you. Consider using the Tombstone Perk. This Perk leaves a tombstone-shaped power-up that will give you back your weapons and perks.

You get the cross bones at 500 kills no matter what the K/D is and you get the skull at 3,000 kills no matter what the K/D is.
Ive had skull with a 40k/d
I had knife with an 85 K/D
And I had shotguns with a 993K/D but some people have had them at a 170k/d.
