I don't see that happening. It will completely discourage people from buying games.

I could see this happening, prices of everything is going up. But then again, many many people will stop buying games because of this, it would cause a lot of trouble and a ton of bickering.

prices are going up, but only marginally, increasing by nearly double would do their sales massive damage, because think about it.
If you can just use the pc your using now which will most likely run these games anyway why would you go and pay ridiculous amounts of money for a game you can get on the pc for around what 30-40MAX unless they increase the cost of pc games to around 60 - 70 in which case i guarantee 90% of people will pirate not buy. The publishers battle piracy as it is because they lose sales. if they go and double the price guess what thats double the ammount of people that will pirate.
When a new console is released the games are always a little more so id say around 50-55 on day 1 which will slowley fall to around 45 after a year
