You need to know what device you have before you root it, KIND of important... Unless you want a nice shiny paper weight.
You might want to check out bin4rys root with restore tool over on xda-forums, (not to intentionally advertise, but he doesn't allow people to take the upload and paste it elsewhere without permission...).
