Almost is a great company, it's only a matter of preference, but facts are Element is terrible. And avoid skating Vans, they aren't the best skate shoes. Good ones are Adidas, Nike SB, Lakai's, and Supra.

I hate Supras because everytime I have had them the bottoms were gone in a few weeks.
Almost are good but the Uber Double Impacts are the worst.
Also Vans last a while with there Waffle Soles.

Trust me, I skate from 1-5 hours a day, for the past 3 years. Vans are not good for skating in, they're more of walk around shoes because they rip way too fast.

Trust me I have been skating for 5 years going on 6 in May. Trust me I have had about every shoe and Vans are most reliable for me.

One thing that would help out alot is having friends that skate. It can get boring and hard without some help in real life. If you don't have any, listen to music while skating.

Anyways, you will need a good board. NOTHING for under $100, I suggest using [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] to buy a board, because you will save a bit of money.

Secondly, get some good shoes. As others said, Lakai, (some) Vans and Nike SB are all good brands.

Once you have everything you need, practice riding. Ride around everywhere instead of walking. Don't be afreaid of people making fun of you or anything. Once you have good balance and don't fall, learn an ollie. I suggest looking on YouTube for a tutorial.

After you have your ollie down, practice getting it high. Once you can get it at about 10 inches off of the ground learn kickflips. Look on YouTube again.

Then just try ollie-ing down small stairsets and gaps. Maybe try a kickflip every now and then.

Keep practicing. Make your way up to big gaps. Keep learning new stuff.

If your town has a public skatepark, skate there for a bit (maintain proper skatepark etiquette!) and don't let anyone put you down. Never say no to a game of skate, it helps more than you think.

Edit: I found this from a google search. Read this. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Try watching some youtube videos, or maybe try and find a skate school if you're really interested
