It all depends on if you will be putting the extra performance to good use. While it offers a little bit of a boost in games, the real achievement is with heavy programs like c4d, photoshop, vegas. It is completely up to you on if you want to overclock, but keep in mind, you will want a good aftermarket cooler if you do.

IMO go with the 3470. It will save you time and money and will work great with just about anything you would throw at it.

If your budget allowed for the unlocked K CPU, an aftermarket CPU cooler, and a Z77 motherboard, I would have included them. You'll get a much greater gaming performance boost from overclocking the graphics card, anyway. The Ivy Bridge i5 is still a winner at stock clocks.
