I am not really a noob but idk what is going on I have my RGH Falcon and my slim console When i turn them on and hook up the cable in the back of the xbox's it always says I am disconnected from xbox live on my retail. so after i infect my self i click on xbox live and i am like have way on if that makes since but it says im not so i have to sign back in then i lose my mods. so does any body know why it is doing this??

Yes it does disconnect you then after you infect yourself then you sign back in and happy modding

I did sign back in but my mods wern't working do i have to go to split screen first cuz some people say so. this is for cod 4 btw!

connection issues to xbl on your retial? Its sounds like a internet issue not anything with the Jtag or infection process...
