I am looking to get a gamming desktop, would this be a good choise?
3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770 (8M Cache, up to 3.4 GHz)
Windows 7 Home Premium, 64Bit, English
8GB2 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
1TB SATA 3Gb/s (7,200RPM) 32MB Cache

that will play pretty much all current games well.
However if at all possible for the same ammount of money you could Build a beast of a custom made pc. even if you have to pay a merchant to build it for you, you can still make an alot better computer.
Alienware are good but are also massively overpriced for what they actually are.

No do not invest in the x51. Dell is a waste of money and they are cheap in quality. Building your own would be the best choice, just post your budget and people will give you custom specs accordingly.

Dont buy a prebuilt computer from a huge company, if you NEED to buy one the get one from amazon/ebay because thay will not be over priced (well they will but not as much as an alienware computer)

You could build your own PC for half the price and get better performance, spend a few hours on youtube on tutorials on how to build a PC, they have designed the parts to be really easy to put together.
