SO I was looking into getting a gaming laptop as I will be travelling a lot in the next two years or so and my friend told me about the ASUS republic of gamers laptops. To me they look pretty nice but I would much appreciate an opinion of someone with more experience in the field.

To be honest man, laptop and gaming just don't go in the same sentence. You could play some less gpu intensive games on lower to mid settings, but nothing compares to a desktop.

I have one myself, the G73JW. The battery life is going to be bad though, obviously. The battery can't provide eno0ugh voltage for gaming on the road so it has to be plugged in at all times.

But it's really good for what it does.

This maybe true, but an ASUS G73 and G46vw can run crysis 2 on ultra settings with no hiccups. Desktops are better/cheaper and you can enhance it but for what he's looking for an ASUS gaming laptop will do. I haven't had experience with most of the RoG by ASUS but the G73 and G46VW are very nice laptops for under $1500. I can get the G46 for 1000 (includes taxes) Very cheap, good quality, only problem is the screen on the G46(14" screen) and the screen frame may feel a little bit cheap. It will feel like it's not completely on when you push on the frame.

I use a desktop for all my gaming. Your best bet is to build your own laptop for gaming.

Build your own laptop? It's possible, But its not like PC building. The parts and space are very limited
