I recently bought a gaming computer from uk gaming computers. Everything was working fine till I realised I actually had a spare monitor that I could use as a secondary monitor. Both my monitors are VGA. So at the moment my current monitor (HP w2007v) is plugged into my graphics card's VGA port. Everything is working fine. I then go to plug it in to my second VGA port which is on my motherboard and windows 8 will not recognize it. I then purchased a DVI-VGA converter from amazon today and plugged the DVI part of the converter into my DVI port on my graphics card. I then hooked it back up to my secondary monitor and still, it will not be recognized. I have checked both device manager and Nvidea Control Panel and the monitor does not come up. Also when I go to devices on Windows 8 it sais nothing can be sent from desktop? Is this a problem? Please Answer.
My Specs
OS: Windows 8 Pro 64bit
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 650
Processor: Intel Pentium 2.9ghz
PSU: Corsair 750w
Motherboard: Asus P8B75-M LX

The only thing I can think of is the fact that to run dual monitors you will need a graphics card that supports it first so have more than one dvi/vga port on it. Second thing I can think of is that you cant have one monitor running of the motherboard and one on a graphics card in a dual monitor setup I believe because when you have a graphics card it stops the intergrated one working and just runs the graphics card so unless you have both monitors running on the same thing (dvi) through your gpu it wont work.

Yeah you have to have both screens running from the graphics cards outputs. Pretty much all cards from the last few years support dual displays.
