$1199.99
From what I saw from the specs, it looked like 2gb of ram... that won't run much. Alienware, is overprice. So are all prebuilt Desktops/Laptops. But it is good.
LOL. It has 8GB of ram, the graphics card has 2GB dedicated ram.

I would advise against getting Alienware they are seriously overpriced and you just end up paying for the name and getting ripped off.
Since you don't seem to want to build your own I would recommend getting a premade desktop PC rather than a laptop for gaming as laptops have a really bad habit of getting way too hot if you run them for too long.
Have a look around on the internet for a good deal. I am from the UK but I assume $1700 would net you a pretty sick gaming PC if you find a decent site to build one for you.

A $1500 desktop would destroy that every day of the week. If you want to piss money away, buy alienware.
I hope it's your own money your spending, not your parents.

$1700 for that... are you friggin serious?
those specs suck, you could get a far better laptop for that amount and an even better desktop

Double the RAM (16gb)
7200rpm (faster) HDD
3GB GT670M Graphics Card (so much better)
Bigger screen, Better resolution (by far)
Looks better (in my opinion)
over $200 cheaper
Can run all games on very high settings with a good fps rate
So yeah, that measly alienware could barely run DayZ on medium, the only reason they can put the price up so high is because of their name, loads of gullible kiddies think they are the best, and spend FAR more than they are worth.
If you took all of the parts out of that alienware separately you would see it's probably only worth about $1100
Sorry if I came on a little bit harsh it's just that it pisses me off when alienware charge so much more than what their stuff is worth, and they are made by Dell.... (terrible brand)
Get an Asus or MSI gaming laptop, all theirs are better in pretty much every way, also the Toshiba Qosmio range is pretty beast, just please don't go wasting all that money on that crappy alienware and filling their pockets with undeserved cash, LOL

Dude, Don't waste your money on a gaming laptop, with 1.7k you could buy a new gaming desktop that could run the next gen games e.g. battlefield 4
