Mode wroteI would change the operating system to Windows 7. Main reason being is because windows 8 can come to being a bit of a pain running things like minecraft, pirated things etc.
Second thing I would change is the graphics card. You would be saving your self some money if you buy a card a bit cheaper but runs really good. I suggest the GPU im getting. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Third thing I would change is the hardrive, this may cost you a tiny bit more but its worth it. Western Digital has a great name when it comes to hardrives so I suggest this one. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Maybe change the case to a full tower? Just saying because that motherboard is massive.
The 7850 is a lower-end card and his budget is higher. It's a good card, but it's not the only one.
The hard drive can be had in a combo with the CPU for $20 off, so that is an option. I went with the Blue to stay around the budget he was looking at.
The motherboard is regular ATX so it will fit fine in a mid-tower. Full-tower will just be unwieldly should he want to move it and more expensive. PSU cable length may be an issue as well.

There is no point in getting that if you are going to be using this build for gaming. If you are looking more into editing, recording and gaming at the same time and running big programs like the Adobe programs then this Processer is for you. i5 3570k is more for gaming and just recording. Plus you can overclock the i5 3570k to run pretty fast, max overclock would be about 4.2 GHZ, but you could always overclock to a higher extent but just gotta be careful because some build are different to others and may not be able to handle it thus leading to some technical problems.

You should be able to get 4.2 GHz on stock/auto voltage. That's a very low overclock and as long as the vcore is 1.3v or less, there is no risk if cooling is adequate and the clock can be much greater than 4.2 GHz.

Yeah listen to r00t, ive only recently become really interested into PC's and stuff and have learnt quite a bit but always go with r00t and what he says. Probably the best computer wiz on TTG.

You should get a 7970 with a non-reference cooler for better performance.

You'll also need an extra SATA cable because the motherboard comes with two.
