I don't think hard drives will affect gaming too much, but your best bet is a SSD but if your not willing to splash out too much then the one your looking at is just fine.

There's no performance difference between SATA II and SATA III mechanical hard drives because no platter drive can saturate the SATA II connection. 720p at 30 FPS (even if you record lossless, I believe) will not require a very fast drive. 5400 RPM should do it, but if it's a boot drive, always go with 7200 RPM if not an SSD.

OP, to answer your question, that drive will do what you want. The only time you'll experience the benefits of a faster drive in gaming is when the environment is loading, which is usually before you actually do anything. In games like BF3, you'd just wait longer for the level to load, so personally I put all my games on my mechanical drive instead of my SSD (although I have the capacity for them).
