I absolutely despise games which are free to play but you can buy content in them which is just OP. Games like Tribes and DC universe online. These games are basically only fun if you have bought extra stuff and the creators only seem to care about the players who pay for this stuff.

True. I wish that these games didn't exist, they're pointless to be honest.

Well the creators do want you to pay. If they were items that did very little, no one would pay, and the creators would be out of a lot of money. They could have charged you for the game, but they didn't. They only get profits through the in-game items (and maybe some ads.) It's a business, so of course they want money. People should be glad the game was free to begin with.
