Well the thing is that first Mars is to close to the sun to sustain life with 1 major factor being that it does have an atmosphere but it does not reflect out some UV rays like ours does in turn making it to hot to live. SO that means that either NASA is full of idiots or it is a lie. :coffee:

Mars is the planet after ours. I think your thinking of mercury. Mars does too have an atmosphere, but it is very thin and mainly carbon dioxide. You have it backwards though, it will be too cold to be able to live on mars.

I think it would have been funny if I didn't reply.

Look up the drake equation.
It states a way of calculating how many possible intelligent civilizations there are in the Milky way galaxy.

Usually the result is around 1800.

x 1800 by around 1000000000000000000000 for the rest of the known Universe then by an unknown number for the rest of the Universe* [let's assume around x100000000000000000000000000000000]

Then you could x this number by infinite if you invoke a multi verse.

and that's only for intelligent civilizations, not microbial life.

There's life out there.

My bad Shadow you are correct I do mix planets often but if we were talking Mercury I would be completely correct.

Why doesn't the f ing government send a space ship with no humans in it but just a video camera so we could see

Uhh.. we've done that.. there are many unmanned spaceships roaming our solar system as we speak, it takes years and years to get "far" in space man..

I believe that one recently passed or is getting very close to Pluto, I could be wrong though.

I didn't like Drakes equation, so I did something myself awhile ago. I averaged out numbers from credible sources.
As far as I remember I took the amount of stars in the known universe and took a percentage of how many habitable planets per star. Some other stuff too. Here's my original post from here. Archives/p=26974915.html#26974915

While I don't believe you really supported your thread well, I agree.
There is around 23,300,000,000,000,000,000,000 +/- .10 habitable planets in the universe as far as we know.
I did this through some calculations myself and numbers from credible resources.
To think that humans are the only life developed on ALL of those planets that we could survive on is completely ridiculous.

As far as the travel distance, I have a topic with the a bunch of calculations you can look at.

There is 100% life out there somewhere, and it is probably similar to us?

SODJE wrote There is most probably life out there, but until someone proves it... only god will know
Well according to God there is no other lifeforms, so didn't that post kind of contradict itself?

I'm going to keep this short, I do think extraterrestrial life exists considering the size of our Universe and it would seem improbable for another planet (considering how many there are) to not sustain life as does ours.
