I have windows 8, and I personally like it a lot. Not as much for the tile screen, but just the OS itself is very nice in my opinion. Most people that hate on it have never extensively used it. It loads very fast, and it has some extra features that I think put it at the top.

Everybody hates on windows 8 but 99% of you have never even tried it and for that, anybody who says windows 8 is stupid, The ONLY thing you dont like about windows 8 is the new start menu. And honestly it is actually quite nice, everything is displayed at you and its very easy to use, WHO CARES IF IT LOOKS LIKE A TABLET! Plus ontop of the new easy to use start buttons you have access to a bunch of good apps, the boot time is dramatically improved, it is Much more responsive, the OS uses less RAM, games have good frame boosts by going to windows 8, its cheaper, its newer, it is indeed stable and game devs will be using windows 8 for their programming. Honestly unless you get a good deal for windows 7 get windows 8 you will NOT be disappointed. And honestly even if you dont like the start menu, spend 3 bucks and get a good windows 7 start menu for windows 8. then you can enjoy your precious little classic start menu and enjoy the much more responsive, fast and less hogging operating system that is windows 8. dont listen to the people that have windows 7 but have never first hand used windows 8 theyre just jumping on the old bandwagon.

I'd just go with Windows 7. I don't like the Windows 8 too much at all.
