I recently asked for help regarding what I should buy with the budget I had and r00t was kind enough to give his input on what I should purchase, I agreed entirely with the selection of parts he chose for me, these included:
Power Supply
- 630W be quiet! Pure Power L8/CM, Modular, 120mm Silentwings Fan 88% Eff', 80 PLUS Bronze, SLI/CrossFire, EPS 12V ATX PSU
SSD
- 128GB Samsung 840 Pro Basic, 2.5" SSD, 3-core MDX, Toggle NAND, Read 530MB/s, Write 390MB/s, 256MB Cache, 97k IOPS Max
HDD
- 2TB Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 7200.14 SATA 3 6GB/s 7200rpm 64MB Cache 8ms OEM NCQ
Case
- NZXT Phantom 410 Black Performance Mid Tower Case with 2x120mm & 1x140mm Fans USB 3.0 w/o PSU Window
GPU
- 3GB Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X GHZ Edition, 6000MHz GDDR5, 28nm, 1000MHz, 2048 Cores,DP/DVI-I/HDMI +Crossfire Offer
CPU Cooler
- Phanteks Premium Edition CPU Cooler Black Edition LGA 2011/1155/1156/1366/775 and AMD FM1/FM2/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2
- ASRock Z77 Extreme 4, Intel Z77, S 1155, DDR3, SATA III - 6Gb/s, SATA RAID, PCIe 3.0 (x16), D-Sub/ DVI-D/ HDMI, ATX
CPU
- Intel Core i5 3570K,1155, Ivy Bridge, Quad Core, 3.4GHz, 5 GT/s DMI, 650MHz GPU, 6MB Smart Cache, 34x Ratio, 77W, Retail
Ram
- 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Jet Black Low Profile, PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC, CAS 9-9-9-24, XMP, 1.5V
Total: 1106(GBP) [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
With that being said the reasoning for me creating this topic is to find out what this system will offer me regarding gaming, statistic wise. I would also like to know the difference between AMD and Intel GPU's and what one has and the other doesn't .. Anything other than that the research I have been doing is settled due to me knowing an i5 3570k is more than enough for gaming given that most games don't use the hyper threading the i7 3770k offers also 16GB of Ram would also be overkill due to most games not actually using more than 4GB.
All of the information you could give me on what this system has to offer would be greatly appreciated as I shall be purchasing later tomorrow. Any other knowledge you may like to add would also be nice to hear to just ensure me more I am purchasing a high end gaming rig and not wasting my money.
Thankyou.

The 7970 will play nearly every current game at max settings, but there have been a few recent releases like Crysis 3 that have been able to put a beating on this card. Any card, for that matter. You'll still be able to get playable FPS at max or nearly max settings if you overclock, but it just shows that you can't get ahead of the industry. You could buy a more expensive card now, but it would be hundreds of dollars more for a 690 or two 7970s. These new games are also fully capable of making use of more than four cores, which makes the 3770K a pretty reasonable CPU choice looking to the future. If you're not overclocking, there is a Xeon CPU that is essentially a 3770 (non-k) without an IGP for the price of a 3570K. It's more than worth considering if you don't intend to overclock.

I should note that it's fully compatible with H77 and Z77 motherboards. Z77 is unnecessary for this CPU because overclocking is not possible, so this is another opportunity to save money.

I do agree it moves far too quickly but the card choice seems good enough for this current time. With that being said though would it be a reasonable choice in me purchasing a 3770k and overclocking that instead of the 3570k and overclocking that?
Sorry I did put (GBP) however it might not have been very clear but just to clarify I am British and parts will be purchased in the UK.
The original setup you provided me with is located here .... Forums/t=5178420/1100-pound-budge...-help.html
however I did not clarify that I intend on overclocking.

If you've got the money you could get it, but honestly it would be better to save it and put it toward your next upgrade. The performance improvement isn't much.

Okay, if the performance improvement is minimal then ill stick with the current setup however how long do you believe this build will last before upgrades are essential, baring in mind I do want to be able to play at 60FPS at 1080p on above average settings?
Also just to clarify I am able to OC this current setup?

I can't predict the future and everyone's definition of a necessary upgrade is different, but you should be happy with this rig's performance in the newest games for a few years at least. Both the 7970 and 3570K overclock very well and you'll be able to max out your CPU at 1.3 Vcore with that cooler easily.
